History of BurbankA large part of Burbank was once part of the Rancho San Rafael, dating from the late 1700s. In 1867 Dr. David Burbank, a Los Angeles dentist, purchased land and ran a sheep farm. He sold it in 1887, and the name "Burbank" was officially adopted on May 1, 1887. The city was incorporated in 1911.
Located approximately 12 miles northeast of Los Angeles, Burbank is the entertainment capital of the world and home to many music and film companies, such as Warner Brothers and Walt Disney Studios. It is a top tourist destination in Southern California.
