History of BurbankA large part of Burbank was once part of the Rancho San Rafael, dating from the late 1700s. In 1867 Dr. David Burbank, a Los Angeles dentist, purchased land and ran a sheep farm. He sold it in 1887, and the name "Burbank" was officially adopted on May 1, 1887.
