History of La CanadaIt is believed that La Canada was inhabited by Native Americans. In the late 1700's and early 1800's, it was settled as part of the Rancho San Pascual as established by the Mexican Government in 1826. The two communities of La Cañada and Flintridge were officially joined together in 1976. The two communities incorporated into one - La Cañada Flintridge - covering a span of 8.5 square miles and in 1976, had a population of 21,000.La Cañada is approximately 15 miles northeast of Los Angeles, in unincorporated Los Angeles County, just north of Pasadena and east of La Crescenta.
