History of MontroseMontrose is located in Los Angeles county, Southern California, and is nestled in the foothills. The Montrose area has a Spanish heritage, with the 1784 private land grant from the King of Spain to Jose Maria Verdugo. This grant of 36,000 acres became Rancho San Rafael. In 1914, the Glendale and Montrose Railway was built.
